Parallelized high-speed cortical blood flow detection - first paper published!

February 17, 2021

We have developed a new technique to detect blood flow and measure other small variations deep within tissue:

W. Liu et al., "Fast and sensitive diffuse correlation spectroscopy with highly parallelized single photon detection," APL Photonics (2021).

This technique implements well-established tools for diffuse correlation spectroscopy, or DCS, on a SPAD array with 1024 individual single-photon detectors. The result is a signifcant speed up (~30X improvement) in blood flow detection speed and sensitivity, which we demonstrate in several human subject studies.
